Purpose-Driven SEL for NYC Schools

Life OnPurpose.

Every student walks in carrying labels other people gave them — and walks out with a purpose statement they wrote for themselves. Life On Purpose is an 8- or 12-week identity curriculum for middle and high school students, delivered in your building during the school day, using validated assessments and an adapted Ikigai framework to help students answer who they are before anyone else answers it for them. Led by a facilitator with 15+ years in NYC youth development.

The Curriculum

An 8- or 12-week identity and purpose curriculum for middle and high school students, delivered in your building during the school day by a facilitator with 15+ years in NYC youth development. It's grounded in Self-Determination Theory and Locus of Control research, and every student leaves with a validated, evidence-based picture of who they are before anyone asks them who they want to become.

🧠

Foundation Series

Early weeks build identity, gifts, and a sense of who students want to impact — the self-understanding everything else stands on. Bullying, fentanyl, and healthy relationships each get their own dedicated session afterward, once that foundation is set.

🔍

Validated Self-Discovery

Students complete three free, research-backed assessments — 16Personalities, the VIA Character Strengths survey, and the My Next Move O*NET Holland Code profiler — then synthesize their results inside a custom-built digital tool.

🎯

Ikigai Purpose Capstone

Every student builds a personal purpose statement, framed as exploration rather than a final verdict. The program closes with the ECO Experience — a hands-on outdoor service day where students put that purpose into action across three lenses: Planet, People, and Animals.

"I want to thank you so much for presenting us that life-changing conversation. I felt an immediate difference in my life after hearing you speak. There are many things you taught that are so true but I've never realized before."
Skyler Adelson

"Many of the students take lessons that they will use in the future. Some of these students have also become so moved that they will stay after class to have a personal discussion with him."

"I really enjoyed the presentation. It really made me think about the different choices I made and the different choices I will be making towards my lifetime goal."

Godfrey & Family

Godfrey Moye began his career as an actor in New York City and Los Angeles — building a life around performance, auditions, and stage work. But a deeper calling toward youth work redirected his path entirely. He became a speaker at a Teen Program, delivering talks at schools, churches, and counseling centers, and found that the moments that mattered most weren't on stage — they were the conversations afterward, with teenagers working through something real.

In 2013, he founded B4Men, a middle school boys' program in Southern California, built around that same instinct: young people do better with someone showing up consistently, not just speaking to them once.

After returning to New York City in 2016, Godfrey was appointed Youth Development Specialist at the Living Redemption Youth Opportunity Hub in Harlem, and began volunteering with Young Life alongside that work — eventually transitioning into a full-time role there in 2020. During this stretch, he earned his B.A. in Youth Ministry Leadership from Eastern University, pairing years of hands-on experience with a formal foundation in adolescent development and mentorship.

Today, Godfrey mentors youth across New York City — in churches, schools, colleges, and counseling centers — with 15+ years spent building programming that treats a young person's identity and purpose as something worth taking seriously, not an afterthought bolted onto a lecture. Life On Purpose is the direct result: a structured, research-grounded curriculum built from what he's actually seen work in a room full of students, not from theory alone.
